Song of the Night – Timber Timbre’s “Lay Down in the Tall Grass”

On February 13, 2009 by slowcoustic

This one has to be an evening post, because if you are familiar with Timber Timbre this is something that is as beautiful as it is dark.  The gothic presence that is created from the very first pluck of the strings is incredible.  This sound is something that could be the bastardized children, born in the back roads of the deep South that is unknown to even the locals.  I mean it might not be, I could be out of touch…

The song is taken from Timber Timbre’s self titled 2009 release.  I have to say that some of the best music so far this year is, yes I will say it, Canadian in nature.  Taylor Kirk is the man behind the band and I have to admit the below video and rip is a bit more ominous that the album version, but it is all that much better for it.  Kudos to Scott Cameron and the Camera Music Series over on AUX.tv for the live sessions he records – I mean Brian Borcherdt, Great Lake Swimmers, Ohbijou, The Wooden Sky and now Timber Timbre!  Check it below:

Check out Timber Timbre on his Label site and MySpace.
