Happy Valentines Day from Slowcoustic

On February 14, 2009 by slowcoustic

In true form, I give you the slowcore version of this “not quite what it is supposed to be” holiday.  Well holiday might be a strong word, but none the less, it is Valentines day.  I give you love in 1/4 speed…Small Town Boredom.

Hailing from Paisley, Scotland, Small Town Boredom record lo-fi lullabies that draw on the internal lament of what was and what could have been. The unique introspective ambience of their debut LP ‘Autumn Might Have Hope’ sets sparse arrangements of Spanish guitar, bass, mandolin, harmonium, violin, piano and slow motion drums against heavy-hearted hushed vocals and buried field recordings.

I recently found myself in possession of the group’s third release and it is uber mellow, not for everyone and not for non-stop listening (unless you are me).  The purposeful slow motion can get to some, but it is truly a beautiful album.  Sometimes you just find beauty in the places most others don’t look.  More should be looking to STB.

Visit Small Town Boredom on MySpace, their Label Page for a bit more info.
