New on the ‘Nets this Week

The internet music blogger scene can be quite random and interesting.  It can be useful and even a form of discovery.  It can also be useless and tiresome.  Well, I have only the former items for your hyperlinking pleasure.

  • So I have recreated the “Subscribe to Slowcoustic” feature, I don’t know why I stopped.  Actually I do, old school Feedburner was a bit dodgy for me, I had a nice big post once and it said “too big foo!” and stopped updating.  Hmmm.  Oh well, click on the upper right had side (above the “search” feature) and receive daily email (if I update daily) of posts and media links.  Now in full colour gorgeousity!!  Somebody post in the comments if you subscribe and it does not function and bring me to you via electronic mail.
  • Cover Lay Down had a post for the “Bittersweet Heart” – if not only a couple of days early.  First on the Scene over there I guess!!  Always a good read regardless.
  • The Late Greats have some talent that we should be keeping an eye on (and I love that Canadians, The Deep Dark Woods are included) on their “9 to keep an ear out for” series.
  • Muzzle of Bees had a bit of a blast from the past for current indie darling – Andrew Bird.  Check out a 2002 live performance with conveniently serving sized mp3s for consumption.
  • Anyone who missed the Heartless Bastards “promo” track for “Early in the Morning (acoustic)” as it was pulled by the label – can still check it over on Herohill on one of their “Stingray of the Day” posts.  You can always count on the East Coast.
  • And to end off the day with another Valentines themed note:  Side One: Track One posted the Death Cab For Cutie cover of The Cure’s Lovesong and even included a video of a slightly puffy performance from The Cure playing their original.  Check it here.

I leave you today with an exclusive track from the upcoming EP from “Holler, Wild Rose!”.  The EP is entitled “Yarn” and is slated for a March release.  It is a collection of B-sides and Live Performances.  If you enjoy a bit of post-rock Americana, shoegazey, acoustic indie then you should be looking into this.  You can check out H,WR! on MySpace, Website (tour dates for March are up) and pick up a copy of their album on iTunes or eMusic.  You might remember them from a couple of tracks posted in December right here on Slowcoustic as well.
