Totally agree this is the best fest line-up in Canada this summer! As Kristen has done, I've been monitoring the offerings and Calgary was great enough for me to spend some airmiles to fly from BC (the gulf islands to be exact) to Calgary and sleep on my friend's floor for 3 nights. Can't wait! Administratively, they are also totally on top of things - getting the word out when they say they will, great website, ticketing, etc.

If you can, make sure you check out Mark Berube. Obviously, his music is great and he's an even nicer guy, but he always does something unreal when he plays live. I've seen drunks doing cartwheels, a thirty piece marching band playing in the Vancouver streets for an encore.. and countless other treats too.

Yeah, I saw Neko was at a few folk festivals (as she normally does), but nothing here announced...Josh Ritter usually hits the tour cross Canada as well...

Still will be a good show overall, and yes DDW are an amazing band, saw them here in Calgary about a month ago - music was spot on and sounded sweet, the banter needed work though....

After keeping an eye on the lineups for Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Calgary's festivals - I can confidently declare Calgary as the winner this year. A cherry on top would be the addition of Neko Case to their lineup. Ah well. Nice job including Saskatoon's Deep Dark Woods in this post. They're a great bunch of guys with a lovely bunch of tunes.
