Alright, I have always said “you know bloggers and their covers”, and here I am to bring it all full circle once again.

The EP includes covers of Kate Bush, Echo and the Bunnymen, Mazzy Star, Morphine and Kristin Hersh (included below).  I have to say that he has selected a pretty good group of artists to cover…my personal favourite might be his angelic version of Echo and the Bunnymen’s “The Killing Moon”.  That specific track retains a bit of 80’s synth goodness and vibe (if not a bit diluted for the iTunes crowd), but it had my toe tapping if not only for reminiscing.  I do think the most “Greg Laswell” track on the EP would be “Take Everything”, originally from Mazzy Star as it sounds exactly what you would expect as an original sounding song from a previous album like Through Toledo or something.

If one sentence can sum up the EP, it would be “His cover appeared on Grey’s Anatomy last week!”.  As painful as that sentence can come across to many in the indie blogging circle, it is telling (in style of music, but for Laswell that is not necessarily a bad thing), and will either draw you to the EP or keep you away on principle.  If you do stay away, you might secretly still want to listen…
