Good work Sandy. It’s certainly the best album i’ve heard so far this year but i think i knew it was going to be before i heard it. EM is one of the best songwriters out there right now and doing it all on his own terms. Great stuff.

Thanks so much for this great interview! I love how Slowcoustic keeps us in the know on what EM is up to. I’d love to hear Elephant Micah and Mark Kozelek together on a track that would be a nice blend I think. OH the new album! It has been playing on repeat. It’s only just Feb. but Airline Living will most likely be my favorite track of 2012 with If I Were a Surfer as a strong contender. But then he could always release another album this year……? And, maybe we will get to hear some of the rough cuts? I’ll milk you for all you’ve got.

Alie: Gregory Alan Isakov has an album coming out next spring. No release date yet, but he says they’ll be recording it this winter and should have it out sometime Spring 2012. I sure can’t wait for it.

Thanks for the great list. I really should properly check out Tyler Butler and Great American Desert. Thanks to you I’m somewhat familiar with them already and really like the songs I’ve listened to over the last few month. But so far I haven’t bought anything from them. Oh gosh. I completely agree with the “overwhelming” comment. The timbre of his voice, the rich production tone, the simple beauty of his lyrics. I’ve been fully having an Isakov moment for about two years ago. I keep waiting for the day when I’m not bowled over by his music, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Do you know if he’s releasing a new album anytime soon? He has to be… (please?)
