Stop looking here – What you want is elsewhere (mostly).

look elsewhere
So I just wanted to let you know that regardless of what you already know – this place, this very blog has everything you need – great design, interesting made up name, amazing selection of music and a host that is the guy you just want to know!

But alas, there are other places on the internet that know what they are doing just as much as I, so let’s dole out some blogger love and suggestions.

  • If you haven’t heard already, a new track from J. Tillman’s album “Year in the Kingdom” has hit the blogs (probably my most favourite artist recording today).  Check out some mentions on the good folks at Gorilla Vs. Bear and Rollo & Grady.
  • The 2nd track from the upcoming Bowerbirds album “Upper Air” entitled “Beneath Your Tree” has shown up on a few blogs of note, such as:  My Old Kentucky Blog, Obscure Sound and You Crazy Dreamers (*cough..cough, self promotion…cough*).
  • A.A. Bondy (I boldly use the periods, so take that AA fans!) premiered the first single from his upcoming album “When The Devil’s Loose” and you can find that title track on:  Brooklyn Vegan, Muzzle of Bees and HearYa.
  • Canada’s Polaris Prize long list has been announced (that is the Mercury Prize of Canada for those that need a reference) – check some coverage:  Herohill, Quick Before It Melts, NxEW.

So head on out and visit some great blogs and give them some love and say hi from me!

I leave you today with someone who has really impressed me of late (mostly as I was not aware of her previously) – Tiny Vipers!  I just love the new album “Life on Earth” (pre-order) that is due out via Sub Pop on July 7th.  Jesy Fortino as she is also known creates atmospheric singer songwriter magic and I think it might be my favourite album right at this moment.  Take a listen to the promo track from the upcoming album and a track from her 2007 release “Hands Across The Void” (purchase).

“Dreamer” – Tiny Vipers, from 2009’s “Life on Earth” (highly recommended)
“On This Side” – Tiny Vipers, from 2007’s “Hands Across The Void”
