Okay, this was a bit of a stretch for a “theme” post – but I was listening to the new Savings & Loan again (awesome album) and last night I was trolling some forums that were talking about the new Jeffrey Foucault album (Cold Satellite). Both had promotional tracks with birds, so I just thought I would pass it on with a couple of bonus tracks.
~~~
“Swallows” – The Savings and Loan
This is a fantastic album of mood music, somber at its core and I love it. With an official December release, I feel like I can’t include it on a best (favourite) of the year list, but I really want to. Another winner from Song, by Toad Records (visit).
“Geese Fly By” – Jeffrey Foucault
This one has been around for a while (in demo form I believe) but sees an official release on the new collaborative album “Cold Satellite”. As mentioned above, the forums I was reading about him were mentioning that he hasn’t really had much original material in the last few years/albums. This is true but I tend to take whatever Foucault I can get – this one is killer. (visit).
“Birdsong” – Ted Wendler
I have had this one for a while since Knox Road introduced/posted on this great find of theirs. This is delicate singer songwriter stuff for those keeping score…and Ted Wendler seems to be winning, so please visit him as we need to see more from this young Minnesota native (visit).
“Wild Goose Chase” – Elephant Micah
This one is just because I tend to take any opportunity to post an Elephant Micah track. This track is taken from his “Spinning On Air” Session for WNYC (I posted on it previously). For anyone looking to get in on some Elephant Micah – he is now on Bandcamp with a nice new layout and full of great tracks! (visit)
There you have it a “feathery” playlist for your Thursday – swing by and visit ’em all, this is good stuff here folks!
I listened to Ted nonstop when I first heard him. So happy you posted! Cheers.
hello Smansmith,
thanks for sharing “The Savings and Loan”, it’s really beautiful.
I enjoy to read and listen to your blog but I would like to know if their is a way to listen all the songs in the same audio player because I can’t stay in front of my PC a long time.
thanks again for you work.
