Today is release day for Southern California Americana band Greater Pacific and their album Incandescent! Yes, they are on our label Yer Bird Records so I apologize for the spam – but you know you wanna hear it.
This is the debut full length album from the band and it comes in at 12 tracks and about 44 minutes of the hazy laid back Americana you might have gleaned from their lead off EP from last year. The new album was recorded by Kyle Kersten (guitar, vocals), John Phinney (pedal steel, guitar, keys), Rob Smaw (bass, vocals), Mike Cusick (drums) with some special assistance from special guests: Gretchen Lieberum (vocals) and Tomas Croucier (bass). It really shows in the production of this album as it feels bigger and fuller and possibly more ambitious than the earlier EP.
The album finds itself being a mixture of pedal steel country ballads (Close Your Eyes, Incandescent) through mid tempo “Alt Country” (Someday Soon, And You All Remain With Me) – but does find a home in that slow burning Americana that has become their signature sound. Take a listen to a couple of tracks streaming from their Bandcamp page below.
[info]For release day we also have a bonus giveaway of a copy of the album on CD for someone who can email us with the name of their debut EP from January 2011. Simply email admin[at]slowcoustic.com with the name of that EP and I will choose at random someone to get a free promotional copy of the CD mailed out to them! We will contact the winner by end of day Thursday and get it mailed out to you by Friday!![/info]
