Today is the release day for one of Slowcoustic’s favourite albums of the year (of our lord, 2025) – “Death Farm” from Carl Hauck.
Carl has been featured on Slowcoustic before due to his amazing “Windjammer” album from years back (ummm…it came out 15 years ago!). Anyway, Carl creates stunning ‘indie-folk’ (for lack of a better description) collections, strung together like chapters of a book you didn’t know you needed, but found. Maybe from a random Canadian music blogger, who is to say.
Anyway, delicate vocals above acoustics, fleshed out with backing vocals, piano, cello among the many, many contributorions on Death Farm. There have been a few singles/previews of the album prior to today which include what may be a perfect example of Hauck’s music (and those contributions): “Count the Rings”.
Anyway, Slowcoustic recommends the tracks Count the Rings, Monumented, Last Straw Decoration, House Tour, What You Are Is What You Make, Rootbound and then the little diddy Drug Holiday that closes out the album. See, told you I liked this album. Anyway, the entire album is streaming on Bandcamp, YouTube and your favourite massive, multi-national streaming giant. Please go forth and stream, purchase and enjoy the farming of death.
